Extreme Underwater Ironing

In 2009 UK divers broke the world record for the most number of divers ironing underwater at the same time raising over £14,000 for the RNLI.

128 scuba divers braved the freezing winter temperatures, to attempt to break the world record, previously held by the Australians, for the most number of divers ironing at the same time underwater.

Two years later, the event is back! On Saturday 1st October 2011 we will attempt to break our record, whilst raising money for three very worthy charities:

Forms and posters for the event can be downloaded here>

Full details of how to take part will be posted here shortly. In the meantime why not follow us on twitter and facebook and add your name to the Yorkshire Divers Forum list

    Hi there,

I’m writing a piece about weird and wonderful events in Britain this autumn and would like to include a paragraph about Extreme Underwater Ironing. I was wondering if you had any pictures you could email me (they need to be quite large, and ideally at 300dpi.) Could you please also confirm whether the date of the event this year is still October 1, and how much it costs to enter.

    Many thanks,
    Sappho Lauder

After spreading the word the number of people wishing to take part in extreme ironing on 1st Oct is growing :-) However with more people comes more questions!!

The website states a £10 deposit, are there any other charges apart from sponsorship money ie, entrance fee to site, entrance fee to take part etc?

Are we still able to hire equipment as per usual and should we book this in advance?

What time should we arrive at site?

Can we dive as normal after the event?

    Apologies for all the questions.
